[18:3]  1 tc The MT has the form אֲדֹנָי (’adonay, “Master”) which is reserved for God. This may reflect later scribal activity. The scribes, knowing it was the Lord, may have put the proper pointing with the word instead of the more common אֲדֹנִי (’adoni, “my master”).

[18:3]  2 tn Heb “do not pass by from upon your servant.”

[30:27]  3 tn The words “please stay here” have been supplied in the translation for clarification and for stylistic reasons.

[30:27]  4 tn Or perhaps “I have grown rich and the Lord has blessed me” (cf. NEB). See J. Finkelstein, “An Old Babylonian Herding Contract and Genesis 31:38f.,” JAOS 88 (1968): 34, n. 19.

[5:8]  5 tn Heb “if upon the king it is good.” Cf. the similar expression in v. 4, which also occurs in 7:3; 8:5; 9:13.

[5:8]  6 tn Heb “and tomorrow” (so NASB); NAB, NRSV “and then.”

[5:8]  7 tn Heb “I will do according to the word of the king,” i.e., answer the question that he has posed. Cf. NCV “Then I will answer your question about what I want.”

[7:3]  8 tn Heb “If I have found grace in your eyes” (so also in 8:5); TEV “If it please Your Majesty.”

[8:5]  9 tc The LXX does not include the expression “the Agagite.”
